Master Bedroom Do-Over

This past week has been a learning experience involving a ton of patience, trial and error, hammering one's fingers multiple times, measuring, remeasuring, cutting, sanding, more hammering, sanding some more and painting....both Keith and myself are completely worn out.

I don't know why I always end up doing this to the both of us, but here is how it typically works...we discuss what we want to do to said "room", and then we just wait for awhile. Then (like this time) we decide to go and visit our local ReStore just to see what they have...and normally return home with something. This particular time we found 40ft of molding that we would need for our master bedroom (completely fantast buy for $13!!)...cue next project. Once we had this, I insisted that we go to Home Depot and get everything else and immediately get started...at this point it was 3:30 in the afternoon...much to my dismay Keith would not start on this until his next day off...a whole 3 days!!! I'm not sure what it is, but whenever I have all the materials, I go into overdrive, get stressed out, and stress Keith out...sorry hunny!! Anyway, we waited and got most of it done on Tuesday. I was able to finish everything else on Wednesday and Thursday. I am so sore it's ridiculous!

Doing this project has made me happy we have a "small" house. Our master is 11.5 x 9.5...not large by any means. Fortunately, our king bed fit in it and that was all we were worried about when we moved in.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE disregard the before photos...we were in disaster/tornado mode and thankfully it is no longer like that :)

We ended up using beadboard panneling that was 4ft x 4ft...did you know that Home Depot can cut this stuff?? I didn't. The lines on the original 4 x 8 piece went the wrong way so we had to have them all cut in half...thank goodness they did that for us. Then we topped it with our molding, caulked and sanded everything, and painted...it was that simple!! NOT!! After much work, a little bit of nagging, sore thumbs, and banging our heads against the wall, the end result is lovely (in my opinion)! Definitely takes our drab room to fab!

Pitt-Johnstown vs. Shepherd Men's Basketball

We unfortunately don't get to see our Pennsylvania family much. Fortunately, my cousin Noah plays basketball for Pitt-Johnstown and they had a game against Shepherd this past Wednesday night. Originally we weren't planning on making it to the game since my Dad just had surgery on his leg and foot. However, he was bound and determined to get out of the house and go. Sophie stayed with my Mom and Keith drove Dad, me and Chris to the game. I hate the roads out there. Good gracious!! I am so sick by the time we make it.

It was a great game!! Pitt won 89-77. Chris had a good time. He was way more interested in the Shepherd mascot...a huge ram. He was following this guy everywhere. It was funny because after the second half the ram disappeared and Chris was searching everywhere for him. I didn't have the heart to tell him his body was over in a box in the corner with the head on top of it. lol!! Thankfully he didn't see it. :) Noah Played well. He's #3 in the dark blue

Doesn't Dad look intense??

Valentine's Day

My hubby knows me so well. He is such a wonderful caring guy. He buys me shoes for Valentine's Day. If you know me well, you know I have this thing for high heels. He got me three pairs of the same shoes (again, he knows me so well) in different colors. LOVE them. The cheetah's are my favorite. Thanks baby!!

We did have an extreemly enjoyable Valentine's. We decided to try Hooked in Sterling for dinner, and we went with some great friends of ours, Tyler and Casey. Tons of laughs as usual. Company...Awesome!! Food...not so much. Perhaps it was because they had a set menu for the night, I'm not sure. I give the restaurant 1.5 out of 5 stars. Just didn't cut it for us...especially for that kind of money.

Chris' Birthday

I can't believe that Chris turned 4 December 30th...it still shocks me how far he's come. Here is what he looked like when he was born, and what he looks like now. We are so blessed!

Chris absolutely loves superheroes!! I knida had an inkling that for his family party he would want to keep with the usual. He couldn't decide between batman and iron man so we did both. The decorations were batman and the dessert was iron man. Chris always wants cupcakes...no regular cake for this kid. I have to say I am very pleased with how the turned out, boy were they good!!

Christmas!!!!!

Every year growing up we had fake trees, which was perfectly fine. My mom had it down to a science because the town house we lived in was pretty tiny. We would only put up half the tree and attach it to the window to keep it upright...totally worked, and totally saved us space. She's so smart!!

However, since Keith and I got together, he's wanted to cut down our own tree. It's kinda become our own Christmas tradition. There's a fantastic place we go in Lovettsville that is open all week and has beautiful trees. This year was no exception and we got a beauty!!

Decorating is always my favorite. We have to many memories tied to most of these ornaments. This was the first year that Chris helped the entire time and that way a lot of fun. We only had the tree come crashing down once...about 10 minutes after we finished decorating it. Fortunately, we only lost a couple ornaments and keith got everything fixed again.

And this is what Sophie was doing while we decorated.

Christmas morning came this year with no surprises thankfully. :) If you don't know abut our house getting broken into last Christmas morning, ask me, it's a funny story. The night before Chris got his pj's and put out cookies. We don't have a fireplace so we have a special key we put outside under the mat. Thankfully he's still at the stage where he will go to sleep, and he was out like a light. We did Christmas with my parents Christmas Eve and went to Maryland Christmas Day.

Here Comes HoHo...Riding a Firetruck

The weeks leading up to Christmas, Station 20, goes around to all the neighborhoods in our town and has Sants, Frosty, and Rudolph sitting on top of a firetruck waving at all the kids...pretty awesome...and pretty loud!! Chris thought this was the coolest thing in the world. Keith had it worked out that if Chris was good, They could try to go hunt down Santa in another neighborhood.

Finally, the night it reached our neighborhood came and it was so fun. I stayed inside with Sophie until I could hear them coming, but the boys were outside in the cold with lightsabors saving the world until HoHo made an appearance. From our front window all you saw were flashes of green and blue...and hear lots of screaming!!
